Margaret took another sip from her coke & sighed. This was the first time she'd went out for a while & she just wasn't having fun. She wished she could gain the confidence to talk to someone but every time she tried her words came out in a jumble, she blushed & went somewhere else. Being shy was not fun, it was annoying & made her look like an idiot. She wasn't always shy, she used to have lots of friends & be able to make friends easily but she couldn't anymore.
She finished her coke & wondered if she should just go home but decided she would stay a little longer. She asked Freaky Pete for another coke, just getting the words out so he could understand. He turned to get her a coke & she heard him chuckle softly. Marg cursed herself mentally for sounding like an idiot then smiled as Freaky Pete gave her a coke. "Thanks" she mumbled.
She sipped at her drink, she would try to get the confidence to talk to someone but she doubted she would actually start a conversation. Maybe someone would talk to her & maybe she wouldn't sound like an idiot when she talked for once. She wished that would happen, that she could have at least one friend.

Maia walked to The Moon thinking about how it was really time to redecorate her apartment. When she had moved out of the police station she hadn't had much money so her decor was mostly from garage sales and thrift stores. But she was ready for a change, and a more modern couch. All Maia needed now was someone who knew how to actually make a room look good. The extent of her knowledge was not to mix polka dots and stripes.
Simon was definitely out of the question, he probably knew no more than she did. Maybe Isabelle could help, but Maia hadn't seen the inside of her apartment so she didn't know if Isabelle had good taste or not. Alec and Magnus were absolutely a no. Alec had no taste and Magnus' taste was a little to colorful for her. She would just have to try to do it herself and hope for the best.
Maia put that out of her mind for the moment as she stepped into The Moon. She had nothing better to do and thought that coming here would be a good distraction from boredom. She walked up to the bar and sat down next to a girl who looked to be 15 or 16. "Hey Pete, I'd like my usual." she said to the bartender Freaky Pete. While he made it for her, Maia glanced at the girl sitting next her. She looked vaguely familiar. "Hi, I'm Maia. Do I know you from somewhere?"

Margaret watched as a girl sat down next to her. She recognised the girl, she was another member of Luke's pack but she couldn't remember the girls name. The girl looked at her & Marg looked down at her coke. She smiled slightly as the girl talked to her, if she could just talk normally then she might be able to make a new friend. She wasn't sure if she could talk normally but she would try.
She looked up at Maia & tried to smile, she took a deep breath before speaking. "H-hi, yeah... Luke's pack, I'm M-margaret," she said then blushed & looked back down at her coke. Why couldn't she talk normal? Why did she always have to sound like an idiot & embarrass herself? She thought she might have a chance to make a friend but it looked like Maia would just laugh at her & Marg would leave.
There is a possibility though, that she wouldn't get laughed at for once. Maybe Maia would somehow understand & she would get a friend. She hadn't sounded as idiotic as she usually did so just maybe. She knew that was a very small possibility but she still hoped it would happen. She sipped at her drink & waited for Maia's response.

Maia absentmindedly looked at the girl next to her, and the girl promptly looked down. She seemed shy and uncomfortable. For some reason this made Maia smile. The girl seemed so innocent, not like a werewolf at all. But not everyone in here was a werewolf, just mostly everyone. Although Maia didn't understand why a warlock would come into a werewolf bar, but to each his own. She wondered if the girl was a werewolf or not. It's not that werewolves have a certain look, but Maia thought that this girl was one. She just had that werewolf air about her.
"Oh, right! We might have met before, but I don't live at the station and I'm not very good at remembering people. Sorry." So she, Margaret, was a werewolf and part of the same pack as Maia. Margaret had picked a good pack to join, all the people in it were nice as could be and Luke was a great pack leader. Maia smiled at Margaret, but she had already looked back down at her coke and was blushing as red as a tomato. Margaret must be really shy.
So, Margaret, where are you from? Since they were part of the same pack, Maia felt inclined to get to know her a little. And Margaret seemed like she needed a friend anyway. Was she in the city by herself? It seemed like such a long time ago when Maia herself had been in that same position, being a strange new city as something other than human. She would be nice to Margaret, no matter what she was like because Maia knew what it felt like to have no friends.

Margaret smiled, Maia seemed really nice & a good person to have as a friend. She was happy, she knew the longer she talked to someone the more normal she sounded & she hadn't sounded that much like an idiot this time so it wouldn't be long till she talked normally. A friend would be good for Marg too, she only new Luke, she was really by herself in a new place, it scared her a bit.
"T-that's ok, I don't remember p-people well either," she said, smiling slightly. She had never had a good memory, it sometimes took her a couple of weeks to remember peoples names. She hoped that wouldn't happen now though, it was kind of rude to forget peoples names. She could remember Luke's name so she was sure she would remember Maia's. She looked up at Maia when she asked where Margaret was from.
"I lived in Perth, Australia t-till I was fourteen then I lived in New Jersey," Margaret told Maia. She had an accent & she wished she didn't sometimes. It had been one of the thing she had been bullied about. Everyone was either bullied or was a bully at schools & she had never been mean to people. "What about you?" she asked, sipping at her coke again.

Maia looked Margaret over. She was pretty, with dark hair and brown eyes, a muscular form. She wouldn't have trouble getting a guy, if she even wanted a boyfriend. Sometimes lycanthropes only dated other lycanthropes and sometimes they didn't date at all. Maia was neither one of those types, given that her semi-boyfriend was a vampire. Margaret seemed nice too. Which would help her get to know people and make friends. She would probably do just fine in the city, Maia had.
"Yeah it really sucks sometimes when someone knows your name but you don't know theirs. It kinda makes me feel like a jerk." Maia smiled at her. It was easy talking to Margaret, but maybe that was because Margaret reminded her of herself. It was hard not to talk to someone who you thought was like you. If you thought that you and the person were alike then you wanted to talk and see if they actually were. So far, Margaret was a lot like Maia.
"I lived in Jersey too, until I was 16." She didn't say why she had left, it was obvious. "So why did you leave Australia?" Margaret did have a bit of an accent, Maia just hadn't noticed it before. It was kind of cute. Although, it did make her stand out like a sore thumb. And that wasn't always a good thing. Maia wondered if Margaret knew how to protect herself if anyone or anything tried to hurt her. Hopefully she did, in a city this size you could never know what was lurking around the corner.

This had to be the longest conversation Margaret had had for a while & she laughed mentally at that. It was good that she was making a friend, she was getting really lonely but it also made her feel safer. In a big city like this it could get dangerous & that had scared Marg a lot. She would most likely run & scream if she were in danger, she couldn't fight. She knew how to fight but she didn't like it & she got scared easily. The human instinct to run when there was danger she still had & she wished she didn't.
"My dad got a job in Jersey so me, mum & dad had to move." She said, that had been the worst move ever. She had lost all her friends, her childhood home & of course if she had stayed in Perth she would still be human & not a werewolf. "I didn't want to though, it kind of destroyed my life." She added, finishing her coke. Even the environment had been better in Perth, the smell was one of the things that Marg hated about New York.
"How long have you been a werewolf?" She asked, she couldn't help asking. Maia had said she had lived in Jersey till she was sixteen & Marg wondered how old she was now. You could never tell because werewolves didn't age so they could be decades older than they looked. That part still scared Marg, that she wouldn't age, that she would look like a teenager for the rest of her life.

Maia wondered if Margaret had seen the sites yet. That had been one of the first things she did when she had gotten bored. This was New York, there were museums and galleries everywhere. She had even gone to a comic book convention one rainy Saturday afternoon. It had been a very interesting experience. Everyone had been dressed up in crazy costumes and were debating on who was cooler; Spiderman or Batman. After spending ten minutes there, it had made her feel quite normal.
"Oh well that makes sense." Maia wished that she could have traveled to a different country, but she could barely afford her rent much less a plane ticket to England. "Because you moved away from all your friends to a completely new place where you knew no one?" Maia felt bad for her. It must not have sucked to have to uproot your whole life and not be able to do anything about it. It was one thing if you chose to move, but it was totally different if you didn't want to.
"Well I know that I don't look like it but I'm actually 36, so I've been a werewolf for about 20 years" Maia was split about the no aging thing. On one hand she would be young and somewhat beautiful for as long as she lived but on the other she would be stuck at 16. It was an awkward age to her, she would rather be 18. "How long have you been a werewolf?" Who knew maybe she had been a werewolf even longer than Maia had.
