Simon tapped his feet under the table, trying to patiently wait for Clary's arrival. It has been a while since they had been alone together. She had always had someone with her, like Jace or Isabelle. He still felt a pang of jealously when he saw Clary and Jace together, because maybe if he was better, he could be with Clary right now. No complications. If Jace had never come along, Simon wouldn't be a vampire and he could have lived with Clary normally, instead of watching her slowly grow older everyday. It pained him sometimes to think of it.
A number of the waiters and waitresses had come by him and asked if he was ready to order, but he never would be. He could never eat again. He didn't know why he came here earlier than he needed to. Maybe he had thought that Clary would have come early as well. But she obviously hadn't. He sighed.
He looked out of the small window. It was a very nice day. The sun was shining brilliantly and he was able to thank Jace this time for making this all possible. The wind was blowing ever so softly and he could hear the sound of the young children playing hide-go-seek out on the playground. He suddenly felt a pang in his stomach. He remembered playing that with Clary when they were that young. He turned his head, unable remove the giggling from his ears.
He looked up again. She wasn't here yet, but it had to be soon. He began tapping his foot again. Shouldn't be too long, he though. He looked at his watch and noticed that it was 9:55, 5 minutes before she was supposed to be here. He was worrying over nothing.

Clary had been running so late that she couldn't have imagined what was going to be happening once she had gotten to the Cafe. This was seriously again one of those times when she was just not where she was supposed to be. Clary found herself standing outside the cafe trying to figure out where Simon was, at least from the outside towards the inside of the place. She could see herself in the reflection of the window pane and knew that of course that Simon could probably see her as well. Clary opened up the door, finding Simon, and wandered over towards where he was seated. Even though her feelings for Simon ever once in a while came back up again, she wasn't going to be expressing them to him any time soon, it wasn't right especially when her heart intially belonged to Jace.

Simon smiled as he spotted Clary outside the window. She was walking quickly. When she walked into the café, Simon lifted his hand up and waved. He knew that she would turn up; she never forgot things like this. As she got closer, Simon smiled at her. “Hi Clary. What took so long?” he said, trying to sound joking.
Simon was very glad that they were here together. He knew that Clary was with Jace, and he would never be able to get past that. He couldn’t change her mind. But they would always remain friends… until she grew old and died and he was still running around on earth. Yeah, great life. “It’s good to see you,” he said. He didn’t know what they would talk about, he hadn’t really thought too much about that. He hoped that it would go wrong and haywire.

Clary grinned rather sheepishly but then again this was Simon she was seeing, so he knew everything that there was to know about her, she couldn't quite hide anything but at this moment she was surely hiding what she thinking from him, and she wondered if it showed. "Well you know.., I was trying to find something to wear, and as usual I guess I took too long didn't I ?" she said suddenly smiling, and trying to hid her slight blush at the thought of having spent so long at home trying to find something to wear in front of him. Wow, if only she were to be having these problems at home, she couldn't have thought anything else other that this ? Being able to see Simon again was like out of some kind of dream, and she felt like she didn't want to wake up anytime soon. Clary smiled and sat down upon the chair across from Simon, "Its good to see you too.., how are you doing?" she said suddenly, putting her hands together upon the table, knowing that she would probably have been wringing her hands underneath the table.

Simon smiled slightly. He didn’t really know what he was going to say today. He just hoped that Clary had good ideas.”It’s alright,” Simon said softly, “You look nice. I guess that that time paid off.” He didn’t really mind it when she said things like this. Simon could also see that she looked a little embarrassed. It did seem a little awkward, he just wished that it could be like the old days. They didn’t used to be shy of each other back then. They were the happy days. Now it was just reality which had slammed them in the face.
Overall, Simon felt happy because Clary was happy. He knew that she was so happy with Jace and that nothing would or could get between them. There was never a minute that went by that Simon didn’t wish that he was in Jace’s spot. He was glad that they could still remain friends though. At least she wouldn’t have to worry about never seeing each other again… well… he did. When she died he would still be mourning on earth forever.
Simon watched as Clary sat. “I’m fine, thanks,” he said. “It’s wonderful to see you. It seems like it’s been ages.” He smiled softly. He wanted to reach forward and hug her, like the good old days, but he restrained.
