alessandra joelle cadell ________________________________________________________________[/sup] Alessandra arrived at the institute near dusk. She had come from Idris, the shadowhunter home country through a portal. She had been sent to New York City, although she had not been told why. Alessandra, who prefered to be called Andy by those she considered friends, rarely questioned the Clave and the places they send her. There was a reason they send her places, and it wasn't her place to question them. Ok so not all the time did she actually listened to them, which would be way they rarely requested her time. She was a roamer, not really careing to stay in one place. She had always been that way, or at least had been since she turned eighteen and could leave her relations behind and live her own life.
Alessandra looked around, and was fairly surprised to find that no one else was around. Normally the Clave informed those who gave other shadowhunters a safe haven that someone was going to come, especially if it was planned. She looked down at her watch and began to tap her high highed foot. Her heels matched her outfit; a tight dark green dress. She, like several others she knew, was not afraid to show off her body, her skin, even with the runes, the ones that hadn't just vanished after use, burned into her skin. To her, those runes were beautiful, not something to hide. They were a part of who she was, what she did.
Deciding not to just wait for someone to show up, Alessandra started to walk through the institute. " I could be in Paris by now, instead of this smelly old place." It wasn't really smelly, but she just wasn't too pleased about being ordered to this place. It was already well tended, she knew, everyone did. So why was she here? What could she possibly do here in a place where very talented shadowhunters already resided. Spy? Well they hadn't said anything on that she assumed that was a no. Perhaps the Clave were just losing it?

Having arrived at the New York Institute only a few days ago himself, Sam was still getting used to the new surroundings. He hadn't spent a lot of time with the people here yet, feeling too much like an exile to make the effort to learn much more about anyone than their names. He figured he'd have to have a conversation that wasn't about the weather with someone pretty soon, or else he'd go crazy, but for now, he was trying to put that off, spending the majority of his time in his room.
Unfortunately, there was only so much you could read in a short span of time before the words started to blur together on the page, and Sam had gotten bored of counting ceiling tiles. So he'd decided to explore his new home, venturing out into the hallway outside his bedroom, and walking in a random direction. He knew the general layout of the place, most institutes were the same, but he hadn't really checked the place out thoroughly. Curiously, he made his way down the hallway occasionally pausing to look through an open door, finding most of the rooms deserted. There weren't many people at this Institute, he'd quickly learned.
Which was why he was surprised when he encountered someone he hadn't yet been introduced to, turning a corner, there was a new woman walking down the middle of the hall. Sam raised his eyebrows curiously, not sure what to make of this. He came to a halt, keeping a fair distance between them, glancing around to make sure they were alone. Well, this was weird. He sniffed the air at her comment, and then gave her a lopsided smile. "There is a certain aroma about this place, isn't there?"

alessandra joelle cadell ________________________________________________________________[/sup] Alessandra hadn't the slightest clue what she was going to do. Manners dicated that she seek out the person the Clave left in charge here, to at least tell them that she was in fact here, didn't know for how long. Of course she'd probably give them a reason for being there, just telling them some lie that came up at the top of her head. No way was she going to admit that she didn't know why she had been sent here. To the shadowhunters here, she'd just be someone passing through. Someone whose stay was a little bit extended. She was just a typical shadowhunter. For the most part.
She had left the world for a brief time. Had fallen in love with a mundane. Had become pregnant by said mundane, and had lost said baby due to a stillbirth. It was surely tragic, but it wasn't something she shared with anyone. Not even her family, what was left of them, knew about that particular past. She didn't want anyone to know, didn't need their pity. Alessandra was still young, she had a whole life left to live, and she knew she couldn't let her lost get to her anymore. She only allowed herself to grieve at night, when she was alone in her bed.
Normally alert, hearing another voice from behind her startled the shadowhunter. Alessandra was not use to being caught off guard. Of course she had thought that the place was enempty, and she knew downworlders couldn't get into the place, at least not without permisson. She kept herself from jumping, took a second before turning around to see who had spoken. It was a teenage boy, from her guesses. " There is." Was all she said. Her face was practically unreadable. " You wouldn't happen to know where the people who run this place are do you?" She questioned.

Sam took a moment to size up the petite woman before him as he waited for her response, but he didn't notice anything particularly unusual about her. The tendency to show off as much skin as decency allowed was gaining in popularity among Shadowhunter females, and having grown up in Alicante, he was perfectly used to it. It showed off their Rune-scars, and even at a distance he could make out the wispy imperfections along her exposed skin, but that was hardly a bad thing. Sam had his own share of scars, but he didn't feel the need to show them off, perfectly content in his mundane jeans and t-shirt.
He was fairly certain he'd never met her before, which was to be expected. He'd lived in Alicante before moving here, so there were a lot of Shadowhunters from Institutes around the world that he'd never even have seen, let alone met. When she turned, he was somewhat taken aback by her expression; so blank, devoid of any emotion, like she'd taken an eraser and purposely scrubbed away all inflection. It was kinda creepy, and Sam had to resist the urge to take a step back. He fought back the urge, but his hands found their way out of his pockets nonetheless, tense at his sides, despite his best efforts not to make any show of his own emotions.
He shook his head to her inquiry. "No idea." He shrugged, it was the honest truth, he was only just learning his way around this place, he was hardly in a position to give anyone else directions. But he found the thought of letting her wander around unchecked somewhat unnerving. "I could help you look for them, though." He suggested nonchalantly, not sure he liked this idea any better, but he figured it was the lesser of the two evils.
