you loved me 'cause I'm fragile. When I thought that I was strong. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - The smell of coffee and other coffee-like substances filled her senses as she slipped into the shop, feeling enveloped in warmth and a homey nature. It was nice. Much better than some of the ones back home, she deduced rather quickly. She could feel the small novel weigh her owl purse down slightly as her flats smacked the flooring with dull noises from the wear on the bottom of them. She couldn't help but smile at all the choices of joe they had. White Mocha Latte sounded divine to her at the moment, and with that she hastily ordered, paid, and gained herself a rather large paper cup of said liquid.
She squeezed around a couple as they attempted to act civilized for the young girl, but she knew they'd be all over each other once again as soon as she slipped by to a corner for herself. Plopping ungracefully down in a push chair, after placing her coffee down on the table next to her, she pulled out Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. Had her brother, or Lance for that matter, found out she was reading a book like it, they would have grounded her, and possibly burned the novel. But it was interesting, as both a woman's horror novel and a crime novel. Plus! She had to read it if she was going to sneak into the cinemas to see Mark Wahlberg! She just had to! She'd sneak in to the cinema just to see the fictional masterpiece come alive on the big screen.
She heard her cell phone ring, muffled by the random stuff in her bag. A small laugh escaped her as she closed her book around her bookmark. Dr. Horrible was singing, it had to be Arthur - wondering where she went off to after school. Hastily she answered and relayed where she was and that she'd be home after her 'study-date' with a tutor. At least the excuse worked! She hung up swiftly and jammed the contraption back in the abyss of her purse. Her book was calling out to her as she took a sip of her latte and gasped, pulling the cup away from her lips. "Bleeding forgot it'd be hot." she complained to herself as she set the evil little thing back down. She glanced up at the clock on the wall as it ticked toward four o'clock... Already? She'd just been there for fifteen minutes?! And already, she was slightly bored, save for her book - but it just wasn't keeping her attention like it had at school earlier... She could hear rain start to fall, and she let her jaw drop. She wasn't dressed for rainy weather! Just her luck...

The rain was getting harder, and hundreds of mundanes, all who carried colorful umbrellas, were giving Simon, who had no umbrella, strange looks. The rain seriously didn't bother him in the slightest, and he had to keep mentally reminding himself that it wasn't normal to walk outside while the rain was bucketing down. He looked to his side and saw Java Jones. Oh how that place took him back down Memory Lane. To much had happened here.
He walked into the small shop. It didn't seem too crowded, and it was kind of cosy, in a way. All the humans were chatting quite happily in small groups, all sipping there cup of coffee of some other hot drink. It must have been cold outside, but Simon didn't feel it. The scents of the coffee around him made him sigh sadly. It too sent him down Memory Lane again, and he so wished right now that he could try one... but it really wouldn't taste very good at all to him.
Once he was about to consider going to the counter and ordering a hot chocolate for no apparent reason at all, he spotted a young girl sitting by herself. This was really weird, because pretty girls didn't usually sit alone in a cafe. They usually had friends or boyfriends accompany them. But she was alone, and it didn't look like to she was waiting for anyone either. She just looked annoyed as she stared outside into the pouring rain. Why should he introduced himself to her? Maybe he would frighting her... but it didn't matter just now. She was bored, maybe she wanted something to happen.
He walked over to her slowly, watching her as he approached. He wasn't going to frighten her at all, he just wanted to chat with her a little bit. He was bored and had nothing to do with the rest of his life, so what was wrong with talking to a girl who actually had a life? As he got closer to her he smiled. "Hi," he said quietly, trying to sound shy and meek.

you loved me 'cause I'm fragile. When I thought that I was strong. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Avalon heaved a sigh, going to tuck her feet under her body and into the chair, but thought better of it seeing as she was in a skirt. She glared at the rain for a minute before turning back to her book and closing it. There was no since in wasting time reading when she wouldn't comprhend it, causing her to reread the same pages over and over until she did. Avalon shoved the little thing in her purse, moving it around until it was at the bottom and she was sure Lance would never be able to find it.
"Hi." Avalon turned abruptly, almost jolting her bag out of her hands. She smiled softly, in a jumpy sort of way, until her eyes glanced up at his. A feeling of relief hit her, if he'd been anyone older than her - or her brother for that matter - she would have bolted. "Hello." she shifted a bit before clearing her voice softly, "Would you like a seat?" She placed her bag next to her simmering cup, wanting a drink of it all of a sudden. But she didn't move after returning her left hand back to her being. She hated how she couldn't help but gawk at the boy. Avalon fought the blush that tried to work its way up to her nose and cheeks. 'Well, I should have moved to America sooner...'
She shifted again, hoping he didn't take as her being startled and all bird-like. Her phone rang again, Dr. Horrible sounding against the insides of her bag, and Avalon blanched a little. Had Arthur caught her in a lie already?! Avalon hastily slammed her left palm onto her bag - silencing the dumb thing. Well now she felt stupid...

Simon looked back over at the counter and watched waitresses coming in and out of the doors with plate of food and cups of coffee. He really had a random urge to order something, since he hadn't done so in about 20 years. It was quite a sad thought actually.
Simon smiled. At least the girl was being nice to him, that was better than screaming and running . Simon sat down as she had asked him to and smiled again at her. "Sorry about this," he said slowly, "I just..." what what had he been doing? Why was he sitting here again? He had not decent reason. "I was... just running away from my... uh... brother. He's.... not very nice." It was the most unbelievable lie he had ever told in his life. "Thanks anyway," he said, and smiled again.
At least she seemed like a nice girl, that was the plus side of this. He listened as her phone rang from her bag. He was puzzled when she didn't pick it up. "Why didn't you answer it?" he asked, smiling again.

She gave a soft laugh, pushing herself higher up into her seat with her feet and elbows. It was such a simple anwser really, plus she didn't want to be found out if her ruse was still functioning. She gave a small grin, glancing from him to her purse and back "My brother." She tried not to flinch at the way her accent hacked the simple word 'brother' to pieces. There were days when she loved her accent, and some when she didn't. Today must have been a "Bad Accent" day.
Avalon didn't pester him about his family problems, even thought it really didn't sound all that real to her. But, it wasn't her business at all to poke around if he didn't need her to. She smiled a bit more at his own smile, feeling more and more relaxed. The rain didn't even bother her that much anymore, and that surprised her a bit. Maybe this was all she needed - just a little something to take her mind off of anything pessimistic. Feeling a little brave, like a man taking to the seas with just a life raft she twisted in her seat a bit to gaze at him better. "I'm Avalon."
