I Bust The Windows Out Your Car. and no it didn't mend my broken heart. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Why didn’t she think things through after having a knock-down drag-out with Lance? Glancing around the Cineplex, she doubted that she’d want to try and make it to Pandemonium now, even though it was early in the evening. She heaved a sigh, hating how she never thought things through or how that old woman a few steps away was looking at her. Avalon got sick of it pretty quickly, starting back with a scowl. ’What’re you looking at grandma?!’ she thought as she pulled down on her PB&J tee. It was probably her clothing, but what she was wearing was very urban chic back in Bristol… So, why wouldn’t it be in New York as well? Most of her yank buddies thought what she wore was ‘uber’ hip to say the least. She blinked, who said uber anymore anyways? Shaking her auburn locks she sighed again. Who cared what she wore anyways? She liked her mix-matched look and it liked her back… Well, if the outfit wasn’t an imamate object of course.
Avalon finally bought her ticket - well not really bought per se, not caring as to what she was watching - the short boy behind the flexi-glass took one look at her, smiled in a lustful way and handed her a ticket. On the house. Why did she always seem to interest the creepy vibe-ing guys? She clutched her randomly, bright pink, peace sign bag closer to her body, as if it would deflect Mr. Ogling Eyes’ eyes. Avalon picked up the pace, boots smacking the marble flooring with gusto. The ticket taker just stared at her. Why was everyone staring at her? She felt like being snarky to the petite blond, but decided not to. She’d just spout off random slang in her mind at the people staring at her.
’What movie did that creep send me into?’ Ava thought, grumbling as she plopped down in the first row, right above the handicap seating. She flung her legs onto the railing, hoping to trip someone. But she thought better of that. She wasn’t in the need of a fight now. “How much longer will these ads take?” She didn’t feel like waiting, though somewhere in the back of her mind told her she should be waiting on something. What, she didn’t know… * * * * * * * * * * * * * * i'll probably always have these ugly scars. But Right Now I Don't Care About That Part.

Maia absentmindedly drummed her fingers on the counter of the concession stand. She had been standing here almost ten minutes and still no one had returned. Its not like the theater was completely deserted, there was a fair number of people walking around the lobby, so she couldn't see why a worker wasn't here to make her what she wanted. The movie was going to start soon, she should probably just go and find her seat, but she wanted her candy and popcorn. Sighing, she fished her phone out of her purse and checked the time. Five minutes till her movie, well more if you counted previews but she was one of the few people who actually liked previews, and she had no snacks. She was giving the employee one more minute, but if he didn't come back she was leaving.
Looking around, she noticed that no one else had come to this particular concession stand. It was like a bathroom that was out of order; once you saw that no one else was going there or that it was broken you automatically stayed away. Maia glanced at the time again, it had been two minutes. She turned around a little sadly, she wasn't getting any popcorn tonight. She looked back one more time, and that was when she noticed the sign. 'This stand is closed due to difficulties with some of our equipment. There is another one open on the second floor, sorry for the inconvenience.' What?! Had that been there the whole time?
Maia felt incredibly stupid. How could she not have seen that? She quickly left the stand and began to make her way to where her movie was playing. Ugh, not only did she not have popcorn but it was entirely because of her own stupidity that she didn't have popcorn. By the time she actually got to the right theater, she had taken a few wrong turns during her internal rant, it was mostly full. There were a couple seats here and there, but she didn't want to sit next to gossiping old ladies or anyone with crying babies so she picked a spot in the front next to a girl in a blue shirt. "I'm not sure how much longer they'll last, but do you mind if I sit here?"

I Bust The Windows Out Your Car. and no it didn't mend my broken heart. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Avalon blinked, head jerking up to the other woman and gave a soft smile. She hastily moved her legs and shifted in her seat to make room for the other to get seated. “It’d be fine with me, mate.” Avalon blinked at the whisper she’d have to call her voice. Would she have to endure her accent getting rougher in a lower tone like her brother? If she went into a baritone voice, she’d take a vow of silence to the world and not her dad. She kept her new position as best she could and finally gave up, tucking her legs under her body in the seat, it made it easier for people to pass by at least -even if it was only slightly uncomfortable. “I feel like a nutter asking this, but.. What movie is this? The lad up at the ticket booth just handed me a ticket.”
She could feel how tense and embarrassed she was by the way her voice rose slightly above a whisper, and an older woman shushed her loudly. Avalon frowned and at the yank and her child - a teenaged boy close to her own age. ‘Like that helps any… Shushing someone… Bleeding nutter.’ she thought and sighed, slipping back into a smile. Her dark eyes glanced at the other woman and Avalon blinked slowly. She was very pretty with her dark hair and eyes, and she looked like someone Arthur would date if he wasn’t so busy in college or at work. Her mind flashed to matchmaker mode for her older brother but stomped it back into submission. Blind dates weren’t something she’d be willing to drag someone into. She saw it impersonal and --- why was she thinking about dates at the moment? Her stomach grumbled quietly and Avalon glanced to her bag in her lap. At least she was always prepared with some sort of food and a water bottle.
Delving into her bag she pulled two pre-packaged mincemeat pies. Glancing over to the other woman smiled lightly and extended her right hand with one of the pies in it. “Would you like one?” Setting her Dasani water bottle in the cup holder, it clattered with a plastic smack, and she ducked her head slightly. She had contraband food out and it was making noise, she could just invasion Mr. Ogling Eyes waltzing in and escorting her out as he stared at her. She tried not to make a gagging noise at her brain’s imagination and went to open her pie with one hand.

Maia smiled down at the girl. "Thanks." She quickly sat down, so she wouldn't be blocking anyone's view, and turned back to the girl. In all truth, she had no idea what movie this was either. It could have been one of those super lovey-dovey romantic films or it could have been an action packed thriller for all she knew. But despite her feeling of stupidity, she couldn't help but giggle. "He just gave you a ticket? How much creepier can you get?" Maia continued to snicker a little longer, but once that subsided she went back to trying to figure out what movie this was. "And as crazy as it sounds, I have no idea what movie this is either. I just told the ticket person to give me a ticket to whatever was coming on the soonest." She shot the girl an apologetic smile. "I guess we'll just have to wait and see."
Maia heard someone shushing them and looked at the woman and rolled her eyes. It was still on the previews, and they weren't even good previews; they were cheesy and uninspired. The worst kind. She back at the girl to see what she thought of the woman and her shushing, but she was digging through her bright pink purse. It didn't go with her outfit at all, but maybe that was the point. Looking down at her own outfit, Maia felt quite dull and drab sitting next to someone in leather leggings. She needed some new clothes, badly. Her jeans had rips and stains all over the place, the old converse she had gotten years ago were worn and dirty, and her shirt was starting to fade. Maybe after the movie was over she'd head over to the mall.
Shaking her head, Maia refocused on the movie and the girl sitting next to her. She had no idea what was in the package that the girl was offering her but decided to take it anyway. She hadn't eaten anything since breakfast and she had no other snacks. "Sure, thanks. I'm Maia by the way. What's your name?" The girl looked like a Felicity or Virginia. The different way she dressed gave her the appearance of not caring what anyone thought about her, why not have an odd name to go with her ensemble? Maia glanced back at the screen while she waited for the girl to answer. Still on previews. Jeez, how long would they take?

I Bust The Windows Out Your Car. and no it didn't mend my broken heart. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Neither of them knew the movie? She laughed softly, and finally got her package open - after Maia took hers. She smiled, even though it wasn't homemade and fresh out of the oven it still smelled like home. A small pang of homesickness hit her and she shoved it aside, needing to forget London as quick as possible. She went to take a small bite out of her pie, stopping quickly when she heard the other woman’s voice pick up. "I'm Maia by the way. What's your name?"
Avalon blinked and then grinned, shifting in her seat to get a better look of Maia. "Avalon - my name's Avalon, sorry. It's a pleasure to meet you, Maia. I've got to say, I adore your name." It was true. To Avalon, she seemed to fit her name.. Having a professional writer for a granmum gave her ample opportunities to learn what names meant to help in the character process. And if her memory stood correct her name meant 'Great' in ancient Roman and was another form of Mary in the English language. It was far better than Avalon. 'Murder... That's what my name means. Or Apple in Welsh.' she thought slightly bitter. If her name could have been anything else besides murder, she'd have been happy. But her parents wanted to keep up the strange coincidences of the Arthurian legend names.
Avalon smiled again, ignoring her inner monologue to pay more attention to Maia then the previews. Had she known that this movie would take eons to start up, she would have taken her time getting here - save the pervert at the front desk. "I didn't think these commercials would take bloody forever to get over with!" she complained softly, her accent clinging to the word bloody like a lifeboat on the open sea, causing her left eyebrow to twitch slightly at how rough it made the sentence sound. Yanks had to have had it easier with their array of accents on top of their Yank-y accent. But at least she could proudly say that it derived from her accent first, right? Of course! Why did she keep getting off track in her mind? At least she could proudly say no one could read her mind, could they? That had to be a question for Artie to answer since he was studying Parapsychology and jazz.
"So, what made you come and see a movie, Maia?"

So her name was Avalon. Maia had been right, she did have an interesting name to go with her crazy ensemble. "It's a pleasure to meet you too. And thanks, you also have an awesome name." She gave Avalon a smile. Avalon seemed to be nice so far, very different from how she had been at that age. Her whole persona had been tough and mean. But over the years she had mellowed a bit, put away some of the toughness and brought out the softer side of herself. It had been quite a change, but it was something that she'd had to do. She wasn't the warrior that she had been back then and it had been strange to keep pretending that she was.
Maia snapped back to attention when Avalon whispered something to her. "I know! I didn't even have time to get popcorn because I thought the movie was starting!" She decided to leave the part out about her not seeing a particular sign that said to go to a different concession stand, yet she still blushed out of embarrassment. She should really learn to be more observant. "These are so boring. Aren't previews supposed to spark your interest?" The ones that were on right now were so dull. Maia thought that she might die of boredom.
"Well I was bored and there was nothing else I wanted to do. It was mostly true, the only part she didn't say was that she hadn't wanted to spend another day alone at her apartment. "What about you? No hot date?" Maia smiled and brushed some hair out of her face. She thought that it was a little weird that Avalon was alone. Where was her boyfriend or her group of giggling girlfriends? Teenagers these days usually never went anywhere without a group. It was like they couldn't travel unless in packs. The concept of being alone didn't seem to exist for them. But it did seem to exist for Avalon. Maia looked at her, and her odd outfit. How strange that she would go to the movies without anyone.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too. And thanks, you also have an awesome name." Avalon flushed slightly, not used to people complimenting her name, the blasted thing tinting her ears. It was a good thing the lights were dim. She ducked her head slightly, left foot rocking her chair for a moment. She sat there for a moment hardly feeling engaged in both the previews and the conversation. What was she to say anyways that didn't make her sound a bit like a spongle. She didn't want anyone to think that. Avalon refused to take asprin half the time so that no one could ever say she was a druggie. She blinked, finding her self lost in her mind again. She felt like complaining once more about the lack of film showing.
"I know! I didn't even have time to get popcorn because I thought the movie was starting!" "That's awful! What good is a cinema with popcorn?! This place has got to be run by a bleeding numpty." Ava blinked before laughing softly at herself. She forgot half the time yanks didn't know her slang and vice versa. She glanced back over to Maia with a small, embarrassed smile. "Hah, sorry about that. I'm still stuck with my slang from back home." Did she explain right? Hell, half the time she felt like she was speaking Latin to most of the kids around her age. She could have been if she had studied it rather than Italian. But, Italian was far more interesting... 'And I'm off on a rant again.' she thought before laughing softly again, hating that she made herself sound so nervous.
Avalon grinned softly, nodding at the mention of boredom. She had been bored earlier that day, before her round with Lance that landed her at the Cineplex. But that was useless information that no one really needed to know of. Private buisness and all that rot, blah blah. She grabbed her water for a second and took a small gulp, finding that her pie had givven her cottonmouth. "What about you? No hot date?" Avalon's eyes widened and she pulled the bottle from her lips before she coughed the liquid up. Where had that come from? Was that what most American teenaged girls did? Find some random boy and just date him? See! This was why she hated going to an all girl's school and then being home-schooled for a bit before movie to the States. She didn't understand the social workings of the youth still. "No - no date for me. I haven't had time lately, with work and school... And getting moved into my family's new flat. I had to run off just to enjoy myself here tonight."
