K:anode couldn't help but stare at the little white scars along her arms. At first he thought they were all from battles, wounds. But looking closer, they were too detailed. He searched his memory, knowing he'd once heard someone mention about the marks shadowhunters had... They were from runes! To have so many.. she must have been in quite a few battles. To have been in so many battles, she must have killed quite a few downworlders. He shivered at the thought.
Quite suddenly, she pulled a small device out of her pocket. As she did so, he couldn't help but flinch and tense with mixed. He looked at the object with curiosity and a hint of fear. She seemed quite concerned about what it was reporting. "....so.. what does that do?"He asked, finally summoning up the courage to do so. He sighed at the pathetic situation. He was older, and probably more powerful then she, and yet he was the one sitting alert and anxious.

Arianna looked up from the device to K:anode, raising it a bit. "This's a sensor. It detects demon frequencies." She moved her gaze back and forth between him and the gadget. "I think maybe it went off a bit since you're so close. Sometimes it goes off around downworlders..." she trailed off. She failed to point out that normally one had to be nearly touching a downworlder for the thing to go off, and if that were the case, it would've been going off the entire time.
As though to contradict her, the sensor began to go off again, pulsing gently in her palm for about thirty seconds before going silent. The young Nephilim exhaled a sigh through her nose, frowning. "Seems there may actually be a demon nearby...moving in and out of range..." she murmured. Just her luck. She bit her lip. As a Shadowhunter, she was duty-bound to chase after the thing, despite being without her armor and lightly armed. For once, she was torn on what to do. She could call the Institute, ask them to send someone better prepared, but the demon may escape completely in the time it took for someone to reach her location.
She looked to K:anode, noticing for the first time how much more tense and anxious he was. "Ya know," she said suddenly, "You've been really...tense since I got here. I dunno if it's because you've had some bad experiences with Shadowhunters, or if someone told you that you ought to be worried about us, or what. But as a downworlder, you're on the 'protect' list, no matter what anyone's said." she said firmly, green eyes intense.

K:anode frowned at her reply, some how it irritated him. But there wasn't anything he could do about it. The device could save her life if a dangerous downworlder was in the area. Shame it also seemed to pick up nice ones too.
He looked quite near shock when she explained that there was a demon in range of the device. Dinistr. He couldn't be sure if it was him, but he was the first to come to mind. He didn't say anything yet though. She seemed to be trying to decide if she should give chase or not. He swirled the drink of cola, before drinking it, taking his eyes off her. He'd been staring at her long enough.
"Seriously?"He looked at her incredulously. He had heard something like that amidst the rumours, and one of the Shadowhunters gave him the very item which would mask him from them. Letting the chair back onto two legs, he thought about it, unsure. It seemed likely enough.. though.. there were many rumors of cruelty. "I guess."He replied eventually his tone unsure as he set the chair down again. The look in her eyes when she said was strong enough to make him believe it..
"Anyway. Prehaps you should leave."He suggested, "If the demon wants to deal with me, you shouldn't have to get wrapped up in it."He was still sure it was Dinistr. The demon he'd only met once.. but had feared the reappearance ever since.

The young Shadowhunter was disappointed to note that it didn't sound like he quite believed her. She knew old grudges were still held and rumors still flew, but she'd have thought the admittance of downworlders onto the Council would have begun to turn the tide. Ah well. Change began with her, and actions spoke louder.
Arianna openly scoffed at his suggestion of leaving. "Not a chance. Didja miss the part where I said I'm supposed to protect you?" she said, shoving the sensor into her pocket, which had begun to beat a tempo in her hand, on and off. Whatever it was, it was being careful. She withdrew her stele from her back pocket and began to draw various runes upon her forearms. Sight in the dark, stealth, precision; all these were applied, carefully and swiftly, the marks glowing faintly as the familiar stinging sensation began to fade. The runes for strength, speed, agility, and perfect balance were among the permanent marks looping over her shoulders and near her collar bone, out of sight.
Finished, her attention went to K:anode as she returned her stele to her pocket. "If you have any reason to believe this demon is coming here, after you, then this is where I need to be."

K:anode scowled, "I can look after myself.."He muttered. Geez, having a kid like her looking after him.. if it was Dinistr he'd never let him live it down. Still, he had to admit she could be of some help. He watched her decorate herself with little marks, some of which he could almost recognized, but having never studied them, he couldn't really tell. He ignored what she said to him, still a little irritated by her 'kindness'. "Might as well step outside. I'd rather it didn't destroy the house.."He said, wearily getting to his feet. He wondered if it could be resolved peacefully. He had no real idea why a demon would come to visit him, he hadn't made friends -or enemies- out of any the local ones yet.
Walking into the small backyard, a court in mostly concrete, with dead and dying flowers and bushes around the edges, he waited for her to follow. At the back end of the yard was a wooden door, locked. Obviously leading out into an alley way which was between the two rows of parrell houses. He looked around, trying to see if the demon was here, but if they were they were still in in hiding. Taking a breath, he started to let the energy which had in him spin round, from his fingers, to his heart and back again. The process allowed him to increase the voltage as it were, making it more powerful. Exactly which form it would be released in, he wasn't quite sure yet. Gradually, little blue sparks danced at his finger tips, eager to escape.
"I'll warn you now. Most of my abilities are for self defense, not attack."He told the shadowhunter, "I can stall this person, possibly knock them back. I usually just leave them wear themselves out."

She couldn't help it; a grin spread over Arianna's face at his words. "Hey, I never said you couldn't take care of yourself. Just, ya know, friendly neighborhood Shadowhunter here." By now she had determined that K:anode was older than he looked, older than her no doubt. Hell, as a half-demon, he could have been centuries old, for all she knew.
She followed him out of the house and out into the backyard, eyes moving over the area in sweep. Not much better than being in the house, but at least it gave them some room to work with. She drew the daggers from the sheaths at her waist, watching curiously as blue sparks began to emit from his fingertips.
A nod of understanding followed his words. Even if he managed to stun whatever it was for just a moment, that would give her enough time to strike. "Frankly, I hope it isn't person-shaped..." she muttered, eyeing the alleyway. Demons who's forms more closely resembled human beings tended to be far stronger, normally greater demons.
Adrenaline began to race through her veins, and she shifted into her favored offensive stance, tense as a bow string. An overwhelming stench of something rotten hit her, just as a white blur darted from the gloom beneath the dying bushes. 'Drevak demon...half the size of a human, blind, excellent hearing and sense of smell, covered in poisonous black spines, no teeth, mouth filled with the same black spines...' This information tore through her mind as the creature made a beeline for K:anode. She let out a wordless cry of warning, arm drawing back to fling one of her daggers at the Drevak.

K:anode didn't reply to her, his eyes carefully wandering the yard and skyline. Though he took a defensive stance, it was half hearted, it was clear he didn't want any part in this at all. Suddenly, from the corner of his eye he saw something move from under the bushes. In the background he heard the sound Arianna. Taking a swift step back, he let the static electricity loose on the Drevac -Just as Arianna threw the dagger.
The static eleectricity, poorly controlled has been mostly directed at the demon, but when the metal came close, it headed for it, the opposing forces crashing against each other. He swore something under his breath as he realized the problem with this teamwork. For one he never used teamwork and was incredibly bad at it. Secondly, the only other member of the team was just as likely to fall victim to the static electricity as the demon. Thinking for a quick moment, it was obvious what he needed to do. Change the static to something else.
In an instant, the blue sparks at his fingers changed to a red glowly tint. He brought his attention back to the demon. The last attack had hit, though it barley stunned him, as for the dagger, he couldn't quite see it. [insanely badly written @_@]

The Drevak let out a screech as the electricty struck it, though her dagger seemed to have glanced rather harmlessly off of the demon, leaving a scratch. Drevak demons were not particularly hardy, but they were quick, and their venom was one of the worst, requiring a warlock's healing.
Needless to say, their teamwork needed some work. Perhaps she ought to have suggested an alliance rune. She held fast to the dagger she had; she wasn't going to loose another one by throwing it so carelessly. Looking to K:anode, she began to move cautiously yet quickly towards the demon. She noticed the sparks flying from his fingers had taken on a red tint; she couldn't be sure of what he was going to do, but she didn't want to get caught up in it.
Whatever he planned on doing, she hoped he did it quickly. The Drevak had recovered from its momentary stunning, and had begun to launch its poisonous spines at the pair in rapid bursts. She threw herself out of the way of a trio of spines that had been fired at her, gritting her teeth in frustration. The spine hail made it difficult to get close, and she was without a suitable ranged weapon.

K:anode glanced behind, seeing Arianna now hesitating to throw the dagger she held. Clearly she only had one or two, and after throwing the one she held, she'd be almost defenseless. His thought was cut off as a spine flew past his thick and messy hair, just about missing him. He quickly moved to dodge the others, then around the demon to where the dagger now lay on the ground. Before coming to close, he moved his hand in a slow flicking motion, the red energy becoming free like a wave and striking the creature unaware. The demon knocked back, he kicked the dagger back at her, then moved out of the way again.
"Telepathic energy."He explained, "Well.. something like that. It's a bit more complicated then that." He shrugged, moving over to where she stood. "This one is more accurate, though I can't stun him exactly."As he said it the creature had recovered from the initial shock of being hit with something he didn't know, "and it shouldn't hit you either."
He watched it's movements for a moment, dodging if necessary, then remembered his thought from earlier, "Are you able to hit it properly from this distance?"

Arianna rolled forward and swept her dagger up into her hand in one fluid motion. Her focus remained on the demon as she regained her feet, even as K:anode hit it with some sort of odd wave of energy. She accepted his explanation with a nod. If it'd hurt the demon and not her, that's all she needed to know. For now, anyway.
Weighing the dagger in her hand, she nodded curtly in response to his question. "I won't miss again." she said.
The now-recovered Drevak abandoned it's ranged strategy and launched it self at the pair, mouth open wide to reveal rows of black spines, dripping with poison.

K:anode was a little surprised that she could hit it properly from this distance, but he decided to not doubt her. If she said she could, then he could move out of the way before it struck himself at any rate. Supposedly she was trained at this, right?
When the Drevek ran at them, that was exactly what he did. Moving off to one side, he was ready to use the telepathic energy again if the demon ran at him. Using it now would just impair Arianna's attack, like what happened last time.

Arianna hardly noticed K:anode moving off to the side. The demon held her full attention. It approached with startling speed. Inhaling and exhaling slowly, she took aim and flung the dagger with all the force she could muster. The weapon flew end over end before lodging itself firmly in the demon's skull. It let out an unholy shriek, folding in and on itself as it returned to the dimension from whence it came.
She grinned triumphantly, walking to where her dagger now lay to collect it. Both weapons were returned to their sheaths. "So, someone is definitely very interested in you." she said wryly.

Winching a little, as the Shadowhunter's weapon met with the demon, K:anode then watched with a mixture of curiosity and worry as the demon folded in on it'self. So that's what happens. "Huh? Whaddya' mean?"He was a little surprised by the qeustion. Why in the world would someone care... Though as he thought about, he'd made enemies, rivals and gotten on 'the bad side' of quite few demons, warlocks and witches. Heck, it was why he's lived in no less then ten different cities in the past 5 years! Still, he let her continue, as he began to let the now hyperactive energy start to die down, reducing it's power slowly but surely.

Arianna motioned to where the demon had vanished. "Drevak demons aren't very strong, but they're very fast, as you saw, and have great hearing. Warlocks and demon lords tend to use them as spies." she said. "Who knows how long that thing's been hanging around without you knowing."
She sighed, walking back to where he stood. It seemed both of them had managed to avoid being hit by any of the demon's spines, thankfully. She hadn't been in the city long enough to know which warlocks would lend their aid to a Shadowhunter, and trying to do so while slowly dying of poison seemed ill-advised.

"I guess."K:anode shrugged, seemingly unconcerned. "I haven't really got anything to hide. I don't talk to myself, and you might have noticed there's no photos."He pointed out, walking back into the living room. Sure enough, the mantle piece was empty and no tables or walls held a photo of anyone. "Makes it harder to find weak points."He explained, knowing well that if someone was to take his mother -or the one or two other friends he had, he'd probably get himself killed trying to do something for them.
"Anyway, that was pretty... interesting back there."He said to Arianna, referring of course to how she killed the demon and it's exit from this world. "Suppose it's to be expected of the Clave."
